new pet device monitors vital signs

Tampa, FL-based BluePearl Veterinary Partners, which owns specialty and emergency hospitals for pets throughout the U.S., uses a new wearable smart collar device for pets. The PetPace smart collar monitors a pet’s vital signs and health status remotely, 24 hours a day in real time.

Created in 2012, PetPace wearable technology monitors a pet’s vital signs using advanced analytical methods to alert that a problem may exist. The low power, wireless smart collar fitted with an array of sensors, reports abnormal vital signs as well as physiological and behavioral parameters. Once an abnormal sign or behavior is detected, a cloud-based analytical engine evaluates the signs and, if needed, sends an immediate alert that allows owners or veterinarians to take action to protect the pet’s health.

The PetPace smart collar monitors temperature, pulse, respiration, activity patterns, positions, calories, pain, heart rate variability and behavior.

“Using the PetPace smart collar technology will assist our doctors in early detection and monitoring of disease,” says Dr. Neil Shaw, co-founder of BluePearl Veterinary Partners. “Having access to that real-time information may just be the difference in saving the life of a pet.”
